FAQQ:{{Admin Note: this was submitted by an outside party, with no reply email adress submitted. Curse words have been removed by the Admin for your safety.}} This site is horrible! My sister and a few of my friends are on here and it shows "Who's not"? How do you think that makes people feel?! If you're goinf to have this horrible site at all, you might as well just do the top 10 "hot" list and not the "not" list! If you notice, most all the losers are people who aren't commercially "pretty" or skinny or they're cosplay isn't that great. If this is meant to rate peoples cosplays, you should change it the name. I think this site is s@@@@@@ up horrible nasty and over all f@@@@@ up. A:{{User's "name" removed, for the sake of discretion. This isn't about flaming, after all.}} Dear *****, I'm sorry our site has caused you such distress, however, the "Hot" and "Not" lists are not generated by arbitrary, singular human decision - the entire set of lists changes constantly, according to how many votes an image has received, and of those votes, how many were wins, losses, and draws. If you inspect the site a little better, you will find that, by clicking an image from the "Hot," "Not," and "Latest" Lists, you can see how long an image has been on the site, how many votes, wins, losses, and draws that image has had, and so forth. You may also notice that newer images are closer to the top of either the "Hot" or "Not" list, while older images are closer to the middle. Those images that have had more voting opportunities typically migrate toward the middle. (8 wins out of 10 votes is statistically better than 79 wins out of 100 votes, and so on) Also note that a new entry, once approved by whoever submitted it, is very likely to gain *so far* about a dozen votes winning by whoever submitted it, that particular day. If any one person is loosing, I assure you, it is due to their own lack of self-promotion. A person can vote for themselves, or any other participant, as often as they choose. There are ways to propel an image up (or down) the Lists, if one thinks about it mathematically. The goal of Hottest Cosplay is not to generate drama and hate within the Cosplay communities: You will notice that we do not have forums, and that users are not required to log in - This allows the photo entrants a small degree of anonymity. We do not wish to cause distress to any one person or group of persons, I assure you. As a former "fat cosplayer" myself, I know how cruel some online communities can be. I'm certain, however, that there are submissions on our site now that WANT to rule the "Who's Not" category ;) At this date, any one person voting actively on the site can change the hierarchy of the Lists with about 100 votes. (While I am writing this reply, Hottest #1 and Hottest #10 are separated by about 373 votes, but only 15% "winningness.") So please, take the time to explore a little more - you'll notice that we are still in Beta testing mode, and we do welcome well-thought out, serious suggestions to help improve our site. We're also currently looking for more questions to help expand our FAQ so as to be more informative and useful to all of our users. I hope you'll realize that our photo-upload process does NOT ask for a person's weight, and that we, the admin, hold no animosity toward any of our users. However, if your goal is only to flame random communities, I'm certain you'll be more than welcome on sites like MySpace or LiveJournal, where hate and drama are the stock in trade. Thank you for your input. Jo, Admin www.HottestCosplay.com Q:I want to play, too! How do I get started? A:Take one (1) you, add a costume of your own creation, mix in the convention of your choice, and bake in your camera for 1-3 days before uploading here. Serves 10. Q:How can I get my picture on Hottest Cosplay? A:Point your browser here: http://www.hottestcosplay.com/upload.php ...and upload your image according to the directions. We do ask that you only upload pictures of your 18+ self, and that the images be "family friendly." Other than that, have fun with it! Q:This FAQ hasn't answered any of my questions! A:Click the "Contact Us" link at the top or bottom of our main page, and ask away! Q:Who's responsible for this mess? A:I am. You're welcome! Q:Why am I spending so much time on this site? A:Because voting for (or against) your favorites is addictive - so much so that even the admin has lost countless hours clicking away. Q:Why are there no forums? A:Because we are not your babysitters. Aren't you on enough forums already? Q:Why can't I log in? A:Hottest Cosplay does not currently offer a log in option. Q:But, whaaaaaaaaaaah! There are no conventions in my area!! A:Oh yeah? Have you searched www.AnimeCons.com yet? You might just be surprised at how many events are near you. Q:OMFGWTFBBQNBD i lurve this site!!!!11! A:That's not a question, but thanks anyway... I think... Q:Does the image I submit HAVE to be of me? A:YES. Uploading images of anyone else but you is a violation of our ToS. Q:What is the best format to upload an image in. A:We accepted .jpg and .gif images. ALL uploaded images are automatically resized to fit the 300x400 template: If you picture is 3,000 x 4,000, or 30x40, or anything in between, it will be stretched or shrunk to fit OUR TEMPLATE. No, we don't make exceptions to that rule. YES, you can resize your image and try again - That's why your confirmation email has a link to your image. :) Q:Why can't I upload my image? A:Hottest Cosplay only accepts .JPG and .GIF formats. Also, if the image is too large to be uploaded, you will receive a message detailing why you can't upload the image. Try saving again in a smaller size. Q:Can I post more than one image of the same cosplay? A:As long as each image is different, please do! (Resizing doesn't count - if you're posting an image for the second time for the purposes of resizing, please contact us, and we'll happily take down the old image. Otherwise, yes! We want to see different poses - silly, adventurous, serious, scary - it's all good!) Q:How can I get a picture removed for inappropriate material? A:Click the image in question, and on that image's Stats page, there will be a link to report that image. It's a very simple system for now, but it serves it's purpose. Admin will review the picture in question, and decide if it needs to be removed for violations of TOS. If that's not enough, please feel free to CONTACT US, and don't forget to include a link to the image in question! Q:How can I get my picture REMOVED from HottestCosplay.com? A:If you posted the picture yourself, e-mail us from the address you posted it with. If the e-mail to remove the picture is received shortly after it was posted, we will remove it, no questions asked. However, we will not remove a picture just because your losing/winning. If a picture of you has been posted by an outside party WITHOUT your consent, please contact us - we will do our best to investigate the matter, and take down any images (of you) posted without your consent. Q:How can I track my votes? A:By going to Who's Hot, Who's Not, or Latest Pics, and clicking on the image of your choice, you'll find statistics on that image - how many wins, how many losses and draws, and what percentage they're currently at. Bookmark your favorites - they're bound to change often! Q:Nobody's voting for me. What can I do to change that? A:Tell all your friends! You can email a link to your submitted image(s) by (insert answer here). Q:I'm a lame little poser. Can I steal your code and copy you? A:Um no , but send us an E-mail and we may be able to point you in the right direction of buying code that can do what we did! |
